The Daniel Fast FAQs

What's the Daniel Fast?

The Daniel Fast is based on the fasting experiences of the Old Testament Prophet. It’s a 21-day partial fast where some foods are eaten while others are restricted.

When is LICC's corporate Daniel Fast?

LICC will corporately begin fasting on Monday January 13 to Fabruary 2 2020. We will break fast together on Sunday, February 2 at church. Bring a dish to share that day!

Why are we doing a fast?

There's something serious about when God's people deny themselves and seek God. A fast is a declaration of our sober intention of wanting God's kingdom to be established through us, and of us confessing that we cannot do it on our own - we need God. We fast to change things in the spirit, to break off strongholds, and for the Spirit of God to have His way among us. We want to begin this year seeking God, praying for ourselves and our walk with God, our families, church, leaders, our community, and our nation. We want God's will to be done through our lives, families, and church. It begins with denying ourselves and seeking God.

What can I pray for during the fast?

While you can pray for the needs you have, here is a list that we ask you to pray for so that we are all praying corporately for the following areas:

  • Pray for our church Building Fund
  • Pray for our church Development and Growth in 2020
  • Pray for our church local and world missions
  • Pray for yourself and your family's spiritual growth and to get a spiritual break through

Should I do the fast?

Be sure to consult with your doctor before beginning the fast. If you have health conditions, working conditions, or any situation that prohibit you from fasting, it's okay! There are other ways you can join the fast. Consider fasting from social media, secular music, coffee, or something you feel God wanting to you fast from.
